MOT queiry

Mate took his Octavia estate for MOT this week, failed on temp guage not working. If and for how long has this been a requirment as its a new one on me. He has it done at a kwik krap as he has known them for donkeys year

Not all cars display the engine temperature so I'm not sure how that works. My other car displays fuel level and oil pressure and without going in to the settings it is not clear what temp it is running at.  :-\
Perhaps it's one of those things where if it is displayed it has to work.  :-\

Not a testable item, as it's not among the failure codes within the tester's manual :o

Be interesting to see the 'Refusal' certificate though. Can you scan/post-up?

If it was me I would go back and gaffer tape His hands to the Exhaust Manifold and poke the Emissions Probe up His jack'see.  >:(

Yep. Just phoned my local kwik fit and his first question was 'petrol or diesel?' Diesel can be failed apparently.

Summat to do with the engine being upto temp and cambelt being servicable prior to them revving the living daylights out of it for the smoke test iirc :-\

My MOT teser has never even looked for the tenp gauge/dispay on my diseasal Merc befoe he's done the test  :-\
