Can't do links on the phone, but Tunnie your advice is wrong, pure and simple.

Granted the charges are unenforceable but it is the responsibility of the registered keeper to demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that certain conditions have been met. It is impossible in 99% of cases for the companies concerned to meet those conditions, but since the law change ignoring the notices is not an option.

Google parking charge notice and read all the advice given on the site I suggested...

For an educated person you can be quite daft sometimes :D

Well loads of people from the office must be wrong too  ::) we've all ignored them and get nothing.  ;)

STEMO, if it's a council ticket issued for a council car park then contact them directly and follow their appeals process. Bish bash bosh :y
I intend to to. Done it before and won. Of course, it's eff all to do with the council, it's been outsourced to Capita.

Oh, that's alright then... 0.0005% of the population say its so, so it must be right, regardless of the actual law :-X

Martin Lewis' money saving site is full of accurate and up to date info on how to deal with it :y

Absolutely!

I followed the advice thereon, and got a letter within a few days stating that the matter was being dropped.

If they affixed the notice to your vehicle, it's not proof that you've received it - regardless of their photographic evidence. Any communication with them should be concluded with: "No further correspondence regarding this matter will be entered into" or similar.

I also added that the wiper linkage was damaged at (around) the same time that the notice was affixed ... apparently ... 8)

:y The ticket times will clearly show an intention to park legally rather than outright avoidance...

Well it's a private car park, all the signs and rubbish about 3 hour stay. Countless people have got 'fines', many this year as parking is an issue in dedicated spaces. Hence I take the bike if I'm running late.

Someone in my team got one after Christmas, straight in the bin. Still not had anything back or follow up  ::)

The law? Well the law states it's a 70mph limit on the motorway.  ::)

Had put it down to a brain fart, but your obviously trying to pick an argument for the sake of it  >:(

Read Seths post and absorb its contents, and instead of picking holes, actually look into the advice given. If you then insist on ridiculing it, so be it, but do so with your facts straight.

All depends on the local Authority or the Private Car Parking Enforcement Company, most Councils will chase up in order to get paid, Private some will some wont, the problem arises is if they do go down the route of a Court Order for payment its all a slippery downhill slope from then on.

A few years back had a Private Ticket from a Company in Hull, about 40 quid from memory, ignored it and there follow up letters, 14 months later, Car was clamped outside my house at 6 am in the morning by a Certified Bailiff in Essex, cost me £550 in total.

Iirc, the offence is, failing to display a valid parking ticket.

The way I see it is this .............

As far as the warden is concerned, he couldn't see a valid ticket so you got one off him.
If he saw the ticket and took a picture (the oppsers around here have a digital camera) of your car / ticket on seat ect then your stuffed because it blowing off onto the seat is no excuse as far as they are concerned.

What would I do .............

I'd appeal and send a email to the office stating that you did have a ticket  and the warden should get his oppsing eyes tested and it was displayed properly.
If they come back with evidence then you pay up, if not you have got off with it.

Now days, non payment of parking fines will find a way onto the credit register  :(

Can't do clamping or towing away any more sadly, as our management company looked into it recently to enforce visitor parking spaces. As they used to physically stop/take it away, you had to stump up, now they are not allowed and are not enforceable. Renders all private ones pointless.

Council ones still can be enforced by the police, so have to contest them  :)

Yeah that is key....

Council Ones = Pay up

Private Parking Company = Bin it
Wrong, wrong and wrong...

Only private parking notices issued prior to September 30th 2012 can be ignored. Law changed so you have to engage the company to get it quoshed :y

Martin Lewes' money saving site is full of accurate and upto date info on how to deal with it :y

Nope, just bin it.  ::)

Shed load of people in the office get fines from the private company, that patrols PC Worlds carpark near the office. Most people have had them, has the carparks are merged and only seperated by signs.

No one ever pays them, they may send you a few letters. But they cannot be enforced, costs them more to take you to small claims. So just bin it, engaging with company is the worse thing to do!

Which, if successful, they will get back, plus late payment charges, Court costs, Recovery Enforcement Cost etc, etc,

Trust me, a Bailiff with a Court Order for Monies Owed, can Clamp or Seize / Remove your Vehicle.
