Parking charge notice
« on: 20 May 2014, 10:59:01 »

Got one of these this morning while I was parked up and walking the dog. A couple of points that I would appreciate your input on:

Before I go any further, this one is called a standard charge notice, not a parking charge notice. Any difference?
I had bought a ticket but it had fallen off the dash onto the drivers seat, unfortunately face down. Now then, the offence stated on the ticket is that ' Contrary to blah blah blah it is an offence for the driver of a vehicle who has left the vehicle in a parking place to fail to pay the standard charge'.
I paid for my parking, I have the ticket to prove that. It does not state that failing to display it is the offence committed. Any experience of that one?
Thanks.

Is it issued by a local council or a private parking company? (It won't be old bill)

Private or council PCN ? if council , appeal asap (usually get 14 days ) keep ticket as proof of payment , if private you can pretty well tell them to whistle for the money , at most offer to pay for "lost revenue"

If council appeal directly, if private contractor then Google parking charge notices and pay attention to the moneysaving forum for advice/process :y

Wrong, wrong and wrong...

Only private parking notices issued prior to September 30th 2012 can be ignored. Law changed so you have to engage the company to get it quoshed :y

Martin Lewes' money saving site is full of accurate and upto date info on how to deal with it :y

It's Wakefield council, but I'm definitely going to appeal it as, in my opinion, I haven't committed the offence stated.

Nope, just bin it.  ::)

Shed load of people in the office get fines from the private company, that patrols PC Worlds carpark near the office. Most people have had them, has the carparks are merged and only seperated by signs.

No one ever pays them, they may send you a few letters. But they cannot be enforced, costs them more to take you to small claims. So just bin it, engaging with company is the worse thing to do!

Take pictures  :y

Of the ticket you bought, that should state time bought and duration ect, which will contradict the ticket.

Can't do links on the phone, but Tunnie your advice is wrong, pure and simple.

Granted the charges are unenforceable but it is the responsibility of the registered keeper to demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that certain conditions have been met. It is impossible in 99% of cases for the companies concerned to meet those conditions, but since the law change ignoring the notices is not an option.

Google parking charge notice and read all the advice given on the site I suggested...

For an educated person you can be quite daft sometimes :D

STEMO, if it's a council ticket issued for a council car park then contact them directly and follow their appeals process. Bish bash bosh :y
