Long time lurker on the forum, its helped me keep my cars on the road countless times but after a scout round i cant find the answer to this question.

What gaskets (apart from stat housing and transfer tube, already bought) will i need to replace when i do the thermostat on my 3.2?
 After reading the guide i know i am going to have to remove the inlet manifold and a sandwich plate so do i need to replace the gaskets/ o rings on these or are they ok to reuse?

 Any help will be appreciated

ok to reuse, if unsure you can smear with a little grease but other wise you can fit dry.

There is an O ring under the thermostat housing at its' interface with the block, and 2 O rings where the transfer pipe meets the thermostat housing. I would always replace these, personally. They are often pretty knackered and it's a pain to get to if it does leak later.

There are also variations between thermostat housings which may require you to shorten the bolts that mount the thermostat housing, and the exact size of the O ring varies between the housing types, too, so try to get a housing that comes with the O ring.

None of the inlet gaskets usually need replacing, just the ones around the stat as Kevin Wood says

No, though it does create a little bit of extra room, which some may say is worth the hassle of removing the 20 bolts

Cheers fellas, I work at a vx dealer so got a genuine stat with housing and o ring as with my discount I could get it cheaper than one from euros or kimber friction but decided to play it safe and got a complete transfer tube with o rings as I read these may need butchering to remove but if I don't have to take the sandwich plate off I won't if I can get away with it. Did ask a couple of the mechanics where I work about the job but they're either to young and never worked on an omega or it was so long ago they couldn't remember so thanks again, got no more excuses now better get on with it

It's worth lifting the divider, if only to inspect the oil cooler plate/banjo connections
