Neuton NT5000 tyres
« on: 04 June 2014, 08:01:26 »

Anyone tried the Neuton NT5000 tyres on the Omega and are they any good?

Anyone know of a good tyre fitting and balancing service in or around the Bristol area?
Last one I went to put the weights on the outside rims of my alloy wheels and it took them 3 attempts to balance them right.  :o These wheels are in good condition and I would like to keep them that way.

Thanks

Sorry no experience of that particular tyre, of the reasonable budget tyres we've used (on our old 2.2 DTi) and are acceptable i'd recommend Accelera Alpha's and Nexen CP641's.

I'll have a look at those.

I have them on the Omega, well, on the summer wheels anyway..

What to say? They're "ok", nothing to write home about but not dire either.. I'd probably buy them again as they are, if nothing else, predictable.

They apparently work very well on the Vectra C, quite a few people used them and rate them.

Personally I have not tried them

Driven one with Neuton tyres, but can't be sure if they were NT5000s or not.

The one I drove was typical of budget tyres, reasonable dry grip, but ditchfinders in the wet. As said, though, can't remember the model of Neuton.

I had them on my old omega and I can say a very good all round tyre. If I recall had quite a lip on the side to protect the edge of the rim,

I've used the Neuton NT5000's...

As Aaron says, predictable. Relatively good in the dry, not so in the wet :-X ::)

But if you don't press on as much as I do then you may not notice their inadequacies  ::)

I've got a set of 4 Neuton NT5000 225/55/R16's arriving on Monday.  :y

Came across some of the real world reviews at http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Neuton/NT5000.htm and found them to be as good if not better than some of the much more expensive tyres. Time and testing will tell.

Thanks all for your help, advice and time.

Hope you're happy with them... I wouldn't buy them again but I expect a fair bit from tyres :-X ::)
