Ignition pos 1 feed
« on: 25 June 2014, 12:40:53 »

Does anybody know the easiest place to tap into the Ignition position 1 power feed?

I need it in the dash/ glove box area if possible.

I would have thought of the back of one of the fuses would be an obvious place but open to suggestions.

Back of the stereo   :y

Yep, thought about that but I'd rather not pull the stereo (ncdc2013) out as its not that easy and then its still a task to get to the wiring behind it all.

I was thinking there must be an easier way. Even taking off the steering cowls would be easier than removing the stereo. I will have to try and get my TIS wiring diagrams working!!

Or I could take a guess at some fuses and see if I can pick up a voltage with the multimeter I suppose..

Check the front cigarette lighter... I think that is still powered from pos 1 ... but it might be pos 2 without going out to the car ...

Front cigarette lighter only works on position 2.

I think the rear aux input may work on 1 along with a timer which might be handy.....To keep the phone kit on for a while.

Back of the fuse box is still the most sensible place as it has good, easy access for fuse changing, and because of the space behind it, you won't have connection issues from trying to stuff the fuse holder into a restricted space :y

After a long struggle I now have my wiring diagrams working again so I can now do some research without have to poke around under the dash blindly.

Had a quick look whilst testing and it made me laugh as the page for the fuse box shows the fuse box and fuses but just label's them all "fuses" with no description of what they are for!!

Always handy :-\

Haynes manual diagrams are pretty good, even for facelift purposes :y

Its the fuse/wiring for the mirrors so no bother there.

Now phone kit and DAB unit stay on until I pull the key out.......just what I wanted.
