More Code readers
« on: 19 November 2006, 16:37:50 »

What do peeps think of these two different code readers?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/U-580-CAN-EOBD-OBD2-Code-Reader-OBD-U580-NEW_W0QQitemZ250049606237QQihZ015QQcategoryZ30921QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

AND

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ELM-327-all-protocols-Diagnostic-KIT-OBD2-CAN-ELM327_W0QQitemZ250049077318QQihZ015QQcategoryZ30921QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

I quite like the first one as it does away the need for a laptop. But will the second one be able to do more? To me it isnt clear if the first one can read more than just the engine ecu, ie gearbox ecu, so ive sent him an email asking. Ive asked about a EML327 one before....but then i saw the first one  :-/

The prices seem quite keen too.....he also sells the cheapo tech2 lead, cheaper than most on ebay.

Cheers

TD, you are the only one here that has both worked professionally in IT and is also professionally involved in motoring (we sort off), so you are the most qualified of us all to carry-out a group test review... ;)

looking forward to seeing those photos!   ;D

Paraphrasing on the above, I knew someone who didn’t like aeroplanes and when asked if he has fear of flying he used to say: ‘No, I don’t have fear of flying. I have fear of crashing….’ Yep, the flying bit is not the problem, it’s the other bit that’s scary…

There's a box underneath the engine, I think it's called a sump, any bits left over, put them in there 8-)

But that's where I keep my wooly hat, scarf, big coat, blanket and kendal mint cake for when my Meega stops suddenly one day - voodoo curse will get us all one day  :-/
