Australian modification rules and inspections are much stricter than ours.

That 'Carlton'? looks seriously menacing.

About 25yrs or so ago there was a Rover SD1 running about in Mexborough[South Yorkshire]with a similar set up on it.The rear tyres were so wide that the rear seat had been removed to make way for the inner wheel arch extensions so the outer edge of the tyres stayed within the original body work, the inner arches nearly met in the centre of the car.

What gives you that idea?
I know of several cars with superchargers and/or scoops through the bonnet.

Saw a Moggy Minor van at show in Walton-on-the-Naze yesterday with large intake sticking out of bonnet like that yesterday. Called the van "Pie wagon"

You don't need such large setups these days, supercharger technology has moved on a lot.

The VXR8 I was lucky enough to get a drive of last week (dam dam dam, want one!) which had a mere 580 bhp (680bhp as of this week as its having a new cam, injectors and fuel pump plus remap) with super charger setup, the charger can go over the 100bhp mark and if you want more, you fit two, one for each bank.

That thing was very very very good, super car acceleration, very good handling, 0-60 sub 4 seconds....
