If a driver fails to stop
« on: 11 July 2014, 21:58:08 »

Yesterday afternoon  I had a narrow escape
A car travelling towards me pulled out from behind a lorry as if he was looking to overtake it ,he wasnt very far out but enough to be on the white line if not slightly over it on my side , this resulted in a coming together of wing mirrors . I stopped but he carried on I gave chase and eventually caught him up over half a mile down the road and pulled in,in front of him to stop him  >:( >:(
I asked him what he was doing and why he hadnt stopped his reply was that he had intended to report it later which slightly wound me up even more
He did speak to the police on his phone but only after I had stopped him and they took his details etc and said as long as it was damge only they wouldnt be further involved .We echanged names and addresses but not insurance details or phone numbers.
I reported this to my insurance company but I am now stuck with a damaged car unless I pay my excess to have it repaired then claim it back which I dont want to do
Question is should I report him for failing to stop , and is it too late to do this anyway as it over the 24 hours
I have a dash cam fitted which has both front and rear camera this has caught the incident and is date stamped
Any suggestions or help please  :y

Can you not just contact his insurer? They normally make you an offer on minor things like this if their client is in the wrong. If you have footage I imagine they will be very keen to settle.

I don't have his insurers details
It was more the fact he failed to stop that's annoyed me

Your insurance company can get his insurance details from the reg.

You have footage of him failing to stop? They you chasing him (in a legal manner?)

If so give it to the police and let them deal with him.
