Hit the dog...
« on: 13 July 2014, 07:21:48 »

Yes, I hit the dog last night with my omega, the dog lives - at least it did when it ran away a bit disorientated.
Went from work last night and noticed a smaller dog crossing the road....and when I thought "Ok this one is safe", a golden retriever jumped in front of me driving. Omega went straight into dive like a snow  plow, but I couldn't help.
It is strange that nothing happened for more than three years and now, now when I bought all the things to sort the rust out this summer....nah, not worth trying to explain  >:(

Find the owner of dog (ask at local vets) then claim from there household insurance. :y

That's a bit hard to do, dog ran away, if report it to insurance or police I could only get fined and that's about it.  Sort of hit and run they'd say sadly

The dog won't be too far from where you hit it... I would be trying to find it if only to see if it's ok :-\

Passed by the scene today, no dog and it probably survived, it was a hit at almost complete stop. Hitting it with higher speed would cause an unrepairable damage I'm afraid.

And yes, diferrent laws here and there's a strong fealing police only knows how to charge you fines for whatever reason. Like they are private sector

I've 'written off' a fox, a badger, and a couple of moggies in my time.

Mutts should be kept on a lead, so don't blame yourself if you send one to doggie heaven.

Irresponsible dog owners, especially those who allow their mutts to shit on other people's lawns are a 'pet' hate of mine. >:(

You hit it hard enough to break stuff and bend the bonnet :-X

Did you actively look for it in case it collapsed near by :-\

As soon as it reapeared in front of the car, it went like a sting to quite determined direction, like running straight home. I was in a bigger shock than the dog it seems

In Eastern Europe you get large packs of stay dogs everywhere. :( In Ukraine it is a common sight to see them as road kill. :(

A retired 56 year old British woman was attacked and killed by a pack of wild dogs in November 2007. :( A few years a go I was in the big famous Park Sofiyivka in Uman in Ukraine, when 2 big packs of wild dogs were fighting over territory. :(

In Eastern Europe when people have had enough of a dog, they just turf it out onto the street. :(

You can't judge how animals are treated in different parts of Europe as culturally and living standards wise they are so different. Killing and home butchering animals for meat is normal in villages in Ukraine and in other East European countries.

I believe you could find a diferrence or two maybe between us and Ukraine, beside being in central europe. And rejecting pets isn't a common use here. It's just that time of year you know...when the dogs "gonads"... :-X :P
