A nice trip to hospital.
« on: 15 July 2014, 08:39:47 »

This morning I travel to Lincoln hospital for a bone marrow biopsy.....9.45a.m.

This involves using an 'applecore' to take a 'matchstick sized' piece of bone from my hip......such fun. ;) ;D ;D

If the NHS doesn't kill me I shall be back posting my usual drivel this afternoon/evening. :y

Have a great day everyone. :y

Oh come on, if you're going to go to hospital do it for something worthwhile like a colonoscopy or urodynamics or a barium enema  ::) Well anyway, have fun  . . . .  ;)

Hope it went well. There again being a doctor and all, no doubt you had your own suite and dedicated staff.

All done and dusted. :y

The mighty MV6 didn't miss a beat on the 50 mile round trip and I managed to get a good look at the Vulcan bomber as I drove past RAF Waddington. The Vulcan still has a modern appearance and it's hard to believe that it was built in the fifties.

Anyway.......the first part of the procedure (the bone marrow aspiration) was uncomfortable but nothing more. This is the part where they suck out the fluid.

The second part of the procedure (the bone marrow trephine) where they 'draw out' a matchstick sized piece of bone hurt like buggery.....It hurt enough for me to release an expletive that starts with  the letter 'F' and ends with the letter 'K'......... ;D ;D ;D

I shall know the results  by 23rd July. :y

Crikey! Nothing about the nurses. Must have hurt enough to distract you from them? ;)

On a more serious note, I hope everything goes well. :y

Agreed. Bone marrow biopsy is a such a 'girlie' thing to visit hospital for. ;) :y

I shall endeavour to 'man up' in future and perform the procedure myself with with my old school compass. :y :P

The woman who butchered me was nice but 'plain'. :y

Compensation came in the form of a rather attractive 19 year old student nurse who was learning the ropes. :-* :-* :-*
