For lorries by 10mph to bring us into line with Europe.

Excellent news :y

Now, using the 10%+2 rule I shall be able to drive everywhere on the limiter without fear of prosecution  8)

Presumably that will also apply to articulated trucks and caravanists too :-\

Yes that is good news and some rare common sense from the Government, even if it is only to bring us in line with Europe!  ;)

It's a long time since I saw a lorry doing 40 on a single carriageway, and 56 MPH has to be a laugh elsewhere,  otherwise why would I have to go over 70 to pass them, A689 8.30am East Bound.......... :-X  Mind, recently on the A1M we were passed by a Bomb Disposal Lorry heading back to Caterick, no limits on that truck for sure, and not on blues........ ;) :D

See it every day out our way. Massive queue of irate drivers behind them, not realising that it could lose the driver his job for breaking the law. If the car behind the truck won't overtake, it then means that it's harder for the others to get by. I believe the authorities have come to realise this so have acted to lower the gap of speed between car and truck.  :y

In Theory, Tachos are calibrated to give the correct speed, so unlike car speedometers which are usually 3 mph out of sync i would not rely on your calculations.

The tachos should be as accurate as the speed detection kit... So the 10%+2 stands, but it is a very fine line...

In most cars, applying the 10%+2 rule still leaves about 5mph spare... Which is nice ;D

Now we just need to train those irate drivers to either overtake (it's not that hard, or that dangerous) or drop well back to allow others who do overtake to pull in. ::)
