My Aldi 50 metre retractable air line has split about a foot from the end.


I'm guessing its a case of cutting the bad bit off and re crimping a new fitting on the end of the good bit that's left...?

I had the option to buy a used crimping kit not so long ago. Trouble is, I think it was air operated.

If the fitting has a tailgate which goes in the hose, then a jubilee clip will retain it.
But if the end of the hose has split then I would expect the rest of the hose to be in a similar condition. Which means it will need to be replaced soon.

Mmmmwell it might be sensible to replace the whole thing as its clearly not completely as oil resistant as it should be, the outlet end gets all the use and oily handy, where as the end in the middle of the real is pristine and untouched, as you might expect.

But its lasted 5 years of home use, so not worth spending much on, when a quick snip should see another 5 years. Although I should add, due to where its sighted in the garage, I've moved the rubber stop down the hose so the end falls down vertical rather than sticking out into the garage and wacking me arm on it as I walk passed, especially if the air gun or tyre pressure gauge are left attached on the end. So where the bend is and where it hangs down is where its split.
