So got to the bottom of why the old oil burner was smoking so much on start up from cold today. Head off yesterday to get to the bottom of the fault to find cylinder one exhaust valve guide seals passing oil when cold.

Valves checked and still well within tolerance. No ply what so ever with valves in guide so this is going to be an easy fix.

On another note to all you DTI drivers out there, if you think the inlet manifold gets a build up of carbon you should see the inlet valves after 120K. Never seen anything like it. This car is going to be a lot better after rebuild.
