Suck it up quick!!
« on: 22 August 2014, 13:42:34 »

If you need a new vacuum cleaner and want a powerful one then buy one quick as soon you won't be able to buy one over 1600 watts and after 2017 vacuum cleaners will be limited to 900 watts!  :o

Why?  ???  Well according to the EU we're using too much electricity cleaning our homes and are causing climate change!  ::)  So whats next in their sights? Washing machines?, Tumble Dryers?, Lawn Mowers?, Cookers?   :-\

Right I'm off to invent the petrol vacuum cleaner!  ;D

They come out with this shite to inconvenience a huge number of consumers/manufacturers and manage to save a minuscule amount of energy, therefore greenhouse gases.
I watched a programme called "Should I eat meat?" the other night. The emissions from all the worlds meat production equals the emissions from all the worlds vehicles. So, if we can convince fat Americans to reduce the average 70 kilos of meat they eat each year, say down to 40, which Europeans eat, we'll cut far more emissions than effing about with hoovers.

In fact , if your vacuum is less powerful, you'll need to have it on longer.....so use the same energy. Doh!

We have an arthritic Dyson DC01.  Incredibly noisy, probably because we have run it without filters for the last decade or so. ;D

No idea of the power output.

OR it could be a wake up call to the manufacturers to make more efficient vacuum cleaners that use less electric?

Bit like how cars use less fuel now than they did per mile in the seventies. Nowt wrong with that.

PS my mother still uses(from preference) her mothers upright Hoover. It is at least 65 years old. The lights in the street dim when she switches it on with the circuit breaker

Recently there was an idiot MP claiming that middle class people are contributing to climate change with their chest freezers. they typically use 300-400kw a year. >:( >:( >:( >:( This is the equivalent of about 10 gallons of fuel a year, so it would obviously use much less energy and produce much less plant food by dumping the freezer and driving to the shops every day to buy fresh produce. :o :o ;D ;D

Same should apply to all appliances. Lets get the electric used down on new stuff whilst maintaining/improving the efficiency.

I can't see what the fuss is about!

It wasn't so long ago that we were warned that there isn't going to be enough electricity generated this winter without having voluntary industry cutbacks(paid for by you taxpayers). It won't be long before Germany starts paying the price for its reliance on Russian gas. meanwhile the rest of us are at the mercy of the generating companies putting their prices up by more than inflation.

Maybe the "climate change" is a smokescreen for we no longer have control over the price of our energy..............

PS leave your taps on and run the water if you aren't metered ;D ;D
