Replace or repair exhaust manifold

Hi guys on my 2000 2.2 omega the exhaust manifold has a crack on it so should I just replace it or can I get it rewelded

Omega manifolds are cast iron and eventually crack. You can get them welded but they tend to crack again. I have changed two on four cylinder Omeags and one on a V6. Trouble on 4 cylinder engines is studs breaking off in the head. If it's not too bad I should live with it.

Hi terry it is bad and got mot coming up. When I got the car last owner mig welded it but that soon came off

The only real way to weld the manifold is to remove it and drill both ends of the crack THEN weld the crack.

Seeing as the cracked manifold is off, makes perfect sense to replace (unless you have all the kit and ability to fix).

As Terry has said, the studs do have a habit of shearing.  If you have time, plenty of plusgas (a few times a day for a few days) before unwinding the nuts.
