 Been busy with the CDX this weekend, first the rear blind went in, it has to be 'recoloured' but it now looks like it is supposed to be there.

The the stereo, I didn't want a load of add-ons as i had in the Elite so i opted for a Kenwood DNX5220 double din unit with built in say nav, ipod controller, bluetooth and steering wheel controls.
In addition i have found someone who does the right trim panel for the Omega as well



The Aircon was checked over and regassed, still do not understand why it lost the load the first time but it does seem to be keeping the car nice and cool now  

The started doing some more work with resiting the LPG nozzles, i have not been really happy with them sitting where they are and have always wanted to get them lower than the injectors themself, so armed with a spare intermediate plate i had a go.


There was some gringing needed on the inside of the inlet to ensure the nozzle was flush with the manifold


It wasn't that hard, once i had the nozzels in place i then set about making some holes in the inlet manifold so the injector hoses could pass the inlet without having to go through a really difficult path, a hole cutter proved most useful



and with it all back together...


I have to order some more injector hose otherwise i would have fitted it today

Blimey jay, after your call today you got me thinking how and where you would mount those nozzels but that looks just the job, and that kenwood looks simply stunning in that facia, well done. Look forward to having a proper gander at it this week some time. Safe journey up tomorrow. Gary.

Cracking work, stereo looks fab.

I don't mean any harm here but - I'm not so convinced about the injector nozzles myself.

Although they're lower in your pics, When the nozzles are in the trumpets the flow of gas is going downwards directly onto the valves - whereas the way they currently are, then seem to be going horizontally..?

The idea of mounting the nozzels there is to find out if he can reduce the injector opening time to be as near as dam it to the petrol time to help cure the lean mixture at full throttle on the gas setup. if it does not work then we will know for sure and he wil post up the results. I will be ordering a gas kit when i get back from the holiday and wil follow all the gas threads vvery closely.

If the injector times are considerably longer than with the petrol injectors it's more likely to be the volume of gas the injectors are flowing that's the issue rather than the injector location. Gas pressure or nozzle diameter needs to be upped, IMHO. Under full throttle the incoming air is flowing so fast into the valves that injector location is probably not that important, IMHO. In fact, at high power levels it's better to inject the fuel further away from the valve to allow it some time to mix with the air. (old F1 cars used to have injectors mounted above the intake trumpets)

Injector location will give you more subtle improvements, like better throttle response and perhaps fuel consumption but won't make up for a lack of fuel delivery.

I agree with James that the injectors are now closer to the valves but injecting across the flow of air rather than with it. This would be bad with petrol injectors as it would cause wetting of the manifold surfaces. On the other hand of course we're already injecting vapour so that's not an issue. Firing it across the airflow might well promote better mixing of the vapour with the incoming air as it enters the cylinder.  :-/

It'll be interesting to see what difference it makes.

The sterero was indeed more that i had spent to buy the car, that was the grand price of £510, and Hereford, that was the chap i bought it from, however all the extras pushed the prices up, but it was still cheaper than kenwoods RRP

the nozzles are mounted slightly off horizontal, the lack of space underneath has meant that i couldn't get the angle i would have really liked.

Its a 'suck it and see' excersize, i have some hesatancy and if you are up past 4500 rpm once the car changes down it suffers a tremedous 'jolt' as though there is a supply issue.

Gas pressure is currently say at 1.1 bar and once i get to about 5k the injectors are open for 25ms, so given that it would seems that the injectors need boring out, have you tried getting a 3.5mm drill bit??

if i try it and it doesn't work what have i lost? a couple of hours and an intermediate plate, so no real loss is there
