Take their details, call the insurance company, claim whiplash, live off the winnings compensation for a while.

I mean..

Many years ago I was the bonker rather than the bonkee, we both looked at the cars, shrugged and went on our way (My Renault 19 gave the back of her Renault 18 a little smooch).. these days I'd want to take details just in case there was a sudden claim that I was in reverse or similar and an insurance company started hounding me.

Always take the details and check the car well, was looking at a Ka at lunch which had suffered just the same, no visible damage but a nice ripple in the boot floor when you lifted the carpet.

...plus you could find the non-visible fault when you go to drive off

Well, I haven't snapped the arrogant little shit over my knee, if that's  what you mean.

He was as in a flat bed transit. Passed him earlier driving like he didn't care what he hit. And so it proved.

Indeed, given that it only takes 5 minutes to pull the bumper off, double check. Crashbar will likely be kinked even if the bumper appears ok.

This is why it is prudent to exchange details. If bumper shell is sound, looking at about £200 in repair costs, less if diy :y obviously more if bumper shell/or paint are required :-\

Pikey by any chance :-\

No, now steady on, this happened in Sloufh, be fair.

Obviously I didn't agree with the other driver. But he did insist, and the fact he used to be a mechanic means he couldn't be wrong of course. All cars are designed to take an impact up to 10mph without damage, he told me.

But it gets better. I faked for his insurance details, so he gave me his address, saying he didn't have insurance details. He did give me a mobile. Which I rang on the spot. So he had my number and i had.... The number of the iphone he had in his pocket. I presume that's likely to be his.
He then demanded my address in return. To which I refused. No way was I giving my addess to a pikey looking opposer like him. You have the reg you have my number. I'm the one that needs the details, I said.
And shut my car door to leave. Which he opened again. Demanding and screaming are you leaving the scene. Yes, I replied and drove off only for him to punch thecside if the car while running after the car.

This was repeated at the next set of lights as he stopped, this time, behind me.

So to recap.
He drove into my car.
Claimed no damage.
Told me he was a mechanic.
So there can't became damage. Lol
Didn't apologise.
Sort of implied it was my fault at one point but couldn't really grasp exactly how.
Abused me for not giving details even though I had stopped and done so.
And to polish off, punched the side if the car twice.

Did I give him my address? Oppsing no i didn't ;D

Funny you should mention hitting in rear, saw one today 3 cars in front of me in slow moving traffic.

A bmw 3 series went into the back of a discovery. The bmw came off a lot worse than the discovery. The guys reaction in the discovery was pricless(f'ing and blinding about slow moving traffic and her not paying attention  ;D)
the young lady in the bmw was in floods of tears.

wIsh I had a dash cam now :(

Ask MID will tell you if he's insured or not...

My guesstimate was for the new crash bar, polystyrene insert and brackets plus a bit for your time :y

No damage below 10mph roughly translates to no structural damage to the shell of the car...

Might be worth reporting to Plod. He won't as I assume he is not insured, and given your local Bobby box is two roads away, it's hardly a hardship for you :y

You think the police will give a stuff....they should....but 99% wont.

This has made me wonder...maybe the resident officer could confirm, but I do believe you have a legal duty to swap details, assume that means Reg of cars/name and address and insurance company.
If you felt intidated by this pikey lead stealing unwashed van driver then id say 999 and help im being raped by an IS terrorist who has an AK47 and a sharp Veg Knife.

Probably get half the station turn up for a nosey... ;D
