Upgrade Climate Controls (PFL) To Elite 1999 Digital
« on: 07 October 2014, 00:28:28 »

Hi guys
Me again eh?  ::)
OK I'll be getting my hands on a few things come end of this month and one is a climate control panel from a 1999 Elite.
Mine is a PFL 1994 and has black and non-digital dials that are, well, they could look a bit better.
So question is can I swap the Elite panel for mine?
I've looked on here for a guide but can't find one. Is there one?
Cheers

I would say not possible without fitting the heater box along with all the vacuum and electrical servos, not to mention the wiring and vacuum lines, from the Elite :-\

Might be easier if the '99 car is a facelift one as the dash is different, so you would need to remove that as well...

Just to clarify, this is the "wooden " trim including ash tray around the dials not the dials themselves. The trim is off a mini facelift elite.

I can't remember what a non elite PFL car's dials look like.

OK Varche ...I thought it was the whole set up. If it's the trim only then I'm sure there will be a way to sort it.  :y

Whilst nothing is impossible, retrofitting Climate comes pretty close.

The wood surround is different between climate and manual heating, so that's a No as well

Agree with TB, however, as PFL parts are getting a little unwanted these days, you may be able to source very cheaply a panel identical to your own and a wood trim climate panel. You can then hack them, dremel them, glue, do whatever you like. If you find a result, or mod, then happy days, if not, you haven't hacked to pieces your own dashboard. It's then just a case of spending an hour swapping the panels over. Much more preferable to removing your existing panel, then pondering how to add the wood.
