Army surplus

Whats happened to all the army surplus shops? When I was a lad I used to wear ex army pants as they were comfy with loads of room and ideal for working on the car but can't seem to find them anywhere.

We have 2 in leominter and a huge one about 3 miles into the country... I love going there to have a brevit. Some good stuff... and some utter rubbish  ;D

We have one in Swansea but most have moved online these days to cut costs.

sheperds ain't as good as it used to be  - lots of new stuff and hardly any suplus now

True... spent many a fond day routing around when it used to be the 'old' shepards. Is alo quite expenive now. But still good for a sunday morning drive  ;D

The problem is that a lot of army stuff doesnt wear as well as it used to, which is quite deliberate anyway (lighter, more agile, etc) so the 'surplus' part is a bit of a mis-nomer.......

........plenty in the countryside towns and villages but next to none in big cities as their version of going natural is a drive in the Chelsea Tractor to the Farm Shop!  ;D

Used to use Silvermans as a teen..... then it was mail order and took weeks to happen -- now they are online ( probably still takes weeks !!!)

There is one in Darlington, lots of foreign stuff and new.
There isn't the surpless that there used to be, lack of National Service is my guess, good old army shops went in the 60's  :(
