    Next steps
  • We strongly recommend that you check the vehicle description and mileage.
  • We strongly recommend that you check the accuracy of the information you provided (listed below), and update your check to supply the missing information and make corrections. Remember to do this by 30th November 2014 and before you buy the vehicle.

    • Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) DN55XXX
    • Current mileage To be supplied
    • In order to qualify for the HPI Check guarantee, you must supply the VIN (Chassis number) and V5 registration document details before you buy the vehicle. In addition we recommend that you ensure the V5 document is genuine by checking for the presence of the watermark - the initials 'DVL' appear in several places.
    • VIN (chassis number) To be supplied
    • V5 Registration Document serial number To be supplied
    • V5 Registration Document issue date To be supplied
  • Do all the details match the V5 (registration document) and appearance of the vehicle? If not we recommend you query the discrepancy with the seller or the DVLA. We recommend that you do not buy the vehicle before you have resolved your query. Your HPI Check guarantee will not be valid if the descriptive data does not match the physical vehicle and or the Vehicle log book (V5).

Bloody hell. had decided to buy and get insurance sorted. First do HPi check.

I know I can ask the dealer what it means and I know we can "walk away" but is it a concern?
Was the original plate removed for a personalised one and then the original plate was reinstated. I thought they just put a similar one from that year back on?

If we buy and don't correct with HPI presumably when we come to sell buyers will be put off as HPI will still show this alert?

Why hasn't the dealer updated the issues when he did the HPi check?

Sounds like the private plate that was on the vehicle was put on the other car then someone didn't pay the hp company, it will still show against the car you are buying history,if the dealer is above board it should be easily sorted,pm joshwyatt as he will know how to sort this.

Best avoided by the sound of it... Just shows why you need to carry out thorough checks... Outstanding finance is worse than a VIC marker IMHO... If only because you can lose the car over it :-\
