Oil cooler seals
« on: 03 November 2014, 15:11:33 »

Hi guys  :y
Thanks for the advice on the oil cooler in my previous post.
Question...I've just purchased a used oil cooler offa Ebay in excellent condition.
http://www.ebay.es/itm/181550810065?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I'm guessing that I now need to buy the seals, dowty washers, oil cooler pipe washers as mentioned
in a previous post. Do you know where can I order them online? Plus if they are numbered too? Is there a specific sealer I need too?
Many thanks in advance
 :y

Hmm used not a good idea for oil coolers unless you know the history of the part by the time you have purchased all the extras to make up the kit probably not work out much more than used.Just changed mine a couple of months ago and to start will need to replace 2 x seals that fit in a groove @ the bottom of the threaded portion on cooler(this thread tends to get damaged 9 times out of 10 on removal so check its OK !)  and did it come with the brass nuts that tighten the cooler to plate ? if not might have trouble sourcing these as not a standard metric thread me thinks. The dowty washers are available of the Bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260755134924?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT plus you will need 4 x aluminum crush washers between hollow bolts for oil pipes think they are 14mm x 20mm then dowty seals for coolant bridge .Regards sealent most swear that the only option is VX grey sealent 93165267 although if VX/Opal dealers not available in your neck of woods I used Hondabond HT and working fine. M16 16mm for Dowty washers + 16mm x 20mm for ally crush washers(ignore my post above where I sez 14mm) plus what oil filter have you got ? you need to remove it to get to lower end of oil pipes if it,s the spin on type no probs (with crowfoot socket) if its the canister type a new seal will be required between block & housing .

I'm guessing it's a spin on type.
I'm gonna know in the next few days as she's going in to have new ignition leads fitted. I'll get the boys to confirm.
