A family member has had £6k removed from her account  :( Its all being investigated by the bank now but her statement says the money has been used in a south american shopping store  :( Last time she used her card was at an asda store here ...she's very distressed at this but the bank have covered her loss . just a heads up to keep your eyes peeled  :(

Very common. But don't worry about it. Banks security at fault.

IMO anyone who uses or has used ATM's is at risk, and should be aware of the possibility of fraud of some type. I never us 'em. ::) ::) ::) :y

It is not just at the ATM that card users are at risk. At the supermarkets there have been numerous cases of criminal gangs watching over the shoulder of individuals as they use their PIN to authorize payment, only to be distracted and the card then stolen.  Within minutes the criminal gangs can empty a victims account through either a local ATM or abroad after transmitting the relevant information. This could have happened in the case described by Emd, although an online fraud, hacking into the card holders details, could also be the case as over the £300 limit for ATM's has been exceeded. :( :( :(
