No if you have the old paper style licence that is still legal to use as long as all the details are still correct on it. I have only just gone to photo licence as needed photo id to get into  sandhurst for a course

I did.. never could see the point of the paper half when everything should be available electronically via the details on the plastic photo card anyway.

Nor could I see the objection to actually carrying photo ID that so many people seem to have..

I might occasionally grumble about the fee to renew it every 10 years, but at least it's cheaper than a passport renewal.

I had an Australian driving licence in the 1990's which was photocard only, so I laughed when they introduced photocard licences here, but we still had have the paper one as well.  ;D

Only in Britain.  ::)  ;D

Personally I think Dvla are going in the right direction with Mot, Tax and Licensing. Welcome to the 21st century Dvla. :y

Could do with mot reminders I think. Although my dates mean the tax reminder will prompt the Mot renewal.

I seem to recall that they had originally designed it as an all in one card, with all relevant information embedded, then either they ran out of money, or, more likely as is the case with all government computerised projects, it was cocked up. :-\
