2.2 ongoing problems
« on: 29 November 2014, 20:22:33 »

I've had P0170-02 'Lean Exhaust' for a while, with tough running on startup.

Now it's running rough all the time and I ve got a real collection of codes!

P0170 'lean exhaust'
P1700 'svs request via can'
P0130 'O2 sensor 1 incorrect signal'

And in the tcu:

P1781 'CAN receives error'
P1740 'torque control failure detected'

Had a good look around and noticed positive battery terminal very hot and dropping almost 2 volts in the terminal - re-made that but things don't seem any better.

Any thoughts?

When my 2.2 auto ran as sick as a pig i changed m a f    and coil pack and made no difference....the car would not tick over properly and when you put your foot down would not go above 40mph,,,,,it turned out to be the 02 sensor,,,thats the first one on down pipe..changed that and all was well again  :-\

Well quick drive this morning and its very not well, running rough and gearbox goes into limp mode - all the same codes come back too. It seem s a strange mix of codes to me, so hard to know where to start!

Has the cam sensor been looked at? Does all sorts. Of strange thinngs to an auto 2.2, and often without showing a cam sensor code :-\

Cam sensor is only about 3 months old (genuine) - the old one turned out not to be faultily at the time though so I can try a quick swap back to rule it out.....

Thank you - I have given the throttle body and breathers and good clean recently.

Picked up a GM MAF today as it is about the only involved part that has not been changed in the last few weeks - just about to pop it on and go for a spin so fingers crossed!

I will report back  :y

Well that's not fixed it  :(

Has reduced the codes back to P0170, but still not running right.

Live data looks strange as o2 sensor (new genuine gm) goes rich and lean if accelerating / decelerating but never seems to cycle at cruise / idle. Then after a while all the live data stops and the only was to get it back is switch off engine and start again.

ECU on the way out? Faulty new Lambda?

Or time to drive it to Trents while it still moves?!

Have you checked continuity from the lambda socket on the loom to the relatent ecu pins?

Cam timing definitely 100% correct?

I will check Cam Timing, if it's wrong then it will have been so I changed HG at the start of the year. It did work very well after that though. What effect would it have if out? Would the internals not all crash together when started?

No not checked cabling - do you know which ECU pins?

Many thanks
