Due to a problem with our Panasonic Plasma TV, a month ago I bought an LG 42" 'magic' LED TV. This has a second remote that you talk to and it puts the internet on the screen.
As the TV has a dongle connected at the back, It is obviously connecting to my hub.
You will have to excuse my ignorance on this but am I correct in thinking that my computer is just a 'bystander' in this and has to be physically attached to the TV by HDMI or some cable to show my desktop, and its nothing to do with this dongle and remote.

Do any of you TV buffs out there know if the Panasonic Plasma telly can be repaired. It has devoloped a yellow line running down the screen about 12" in from the left. Sometimes it is about 1" wide sometimes less. Not always visable on all channells, and seems to disappear after the set has been on a long time. And can be intermittent on whether it appears or not. Just bugged me, so got the new telly.

Consider it bin fodder unless you can find a new panel for it at a price that is affordable.

Best thing for it, as said, aside from the bin, would be to hook it up as a massive monitor for a PC / laptop. When I get my new place I'm going to keep an eye out for a cheap, used big telly, for me to do my graphics work / photoshop / designing on at home. Once you've worked on a large screen, you end up peering into your laptop screen as if it's a letterbox

Student / someone similar may be very grateful for it, yellow line and all? for the above mentioned use.

At least plasma sets are useful as a space heater once the panel has died.

Assuming you're on a Economy 7 Tariff, they can compete quite well with a Storage Heater, assuming it last the course of being left on overnight.

Done that on numerous occasions with our one and it's still going strong after 5 years (that's probably put the kiss of death on it now).
