Here you go Chris, not just one article from your favourite newspaper, but two to feast your eyes on!  :y

Didn't they close the A1 near Catterick thinking it was a terrorist attack or something?  :-\

That sounds like automatic gun fire to me, if it was Saturday or was it Friday night, then I was at work and it sounded like fireworks to me but the fog was down so hard to tell

Well we didn't hear anything up here, however listening to the tape of the noises on the link above, it sounded like gunfire to me, Like a Sunday morning round these parts when the farmers all go out shooting........ :-\ :-\

Yep, sounded like a morning when the range was in use, having lived not that far from the range at an RAF base.

Definitely didn't sound the way I'd expect a jet powered by a pulse jet to sound - it's very random, with long pauses.. and if anyone is old enough to remember the way a doodlebug sounded in WWII, it wasn't like that at all (which was also rudiment ally the same technology, I believe)..

In my new house yo ucan hear the Engineers doing their demolitions training, even on saturdays.  After several years of service I find it strangely relaxing to hear

On a serious note now, I agree aaron.  The V1's were a pulse jet with an unforgettable sound that is nothing like, what sounds to me fireworks being set off, with a very random detonation pattern.  Pulse jets are not random. :y :y

Hmmm, so my question is, what's the point in a "spy plane" that can, allegedly, be heard on both sides of the Atlantic....  at once?

Not very.... Stealthy.... Is it? ;D

....unless it's been and gone by the time anyone hears it of course. But even so, it's not like nobody will guess who owns it. ::)

You say that, but if you don't know which side of the Atlantic it is, that's pretty confusing...

BTW is Iceland still there? :-\
