Cem you forget one of many differences...

Mx5=rwd
Renault clit=fwd

Mx5 has proportioned wheelbase/track, the clit has a squarer foot print...

Of course the clit lights up when you boot it... put a 1.0 three pot under the bonnet and it will still wheelspin and understeer ;D

I'd certainly sign up for a go in one ;)

Which reminds me.. one day I ought to ask you if I can try the MX5 on for size (if you turn up for a curry in it). Always wondered if I'd fit (I'm pretty sure I already know the answer when it comes to Westfields so no need to ask there! ;D)

No problem at all. Well, I say that. It's actually Emma's car. :-[ But.. I think if the MR2 was OK you'll be fine. The transmission tunnel is not anything like as high and wide on an MX5 from what I recall.

As to the Westfield, there's always the central steering column conversion and a buttock on each seat option if you can try not to think about where the propshaft would run. :-X I'm sure I threadlocked the diff UJ bolts. :-\ Yeah, It'd be fine.  :y

Speaking of which, if we're talking about silly power to weight ratios, my mate has a cossie turbo in his westfield and north of 400 BHP. They've been built with 6 litre+ V8s before as well. This is in a 650 kg car (well, maybe 720 with a V8). Even that sort of spec is far from undriveable. OK, the situations in which you can give it everything get less common, but you can still use the performance that that sort of power to weight gives if you're careful. .. and you can easily kill yourself if you drive like a teenager, of course.

I did briefly consider creating a single seater Westfield .. I mean I have no intention of needing my testicles for anything in particular ;D

The Mk3 MR2 had no central tunnel, unlike the Mk1 and Mk2 - and I remember the Mk1 being 'snug'.. a couple of people have told me there's no chance I'll fit in an MX5 so it could be an embarrassing attempt ;) 'course I could always lose some weight..  :-X

lets not exaggerate the example ;D

I doubt you can give full beans even to a  1 bar mx5 in any corner..  it will throw you at the first ditch or post

There aren't many cars you can give "full beans" in a corner, though.. If I turn the traction control off in the M3 it'll spit me off the road if I'm not careful, too!

You wind the power on once you're past the apex and relatively straight ;)

For me, anyway, fun doesn't mean driving around with my foot welded to the floor.. fun means being the one in control of something with an excess of power and getting the most out of it - the most power down possible, the quickest speed around a corner, etc.

m3 is a different beast from the turbo cars.. you have power from the beginning and it can throw you anywhere even on a straight ..so you are ready at any moment.. but with turbo cars , they explode suddenly..

They only explode if you drive it like an idiot, ie. on full throttle in a corner.

From personal experience, there is a massive difference between a clit and a MX5. The MX5 has a beautifully sorted chassis, the clit is ............ well lets leave it at that.

Well then, either you are not driving it correctly or there is a problem with your car. Having owned and driven a modified focus RS with in excess of 400bhp through the front wheels, I can assure you that there was no explosions or anything of that sort.

The clit is a FWD shi*box, one of the better ones but still a shi*box. Perhaps that is the issue?

this sh*tbox can be converted to turbo without touching the stock engine.. fuel consumption is less than half of most performance cars .. can be parked everywhere and parts are found everywhere and cheap enough..  and price  less than one quarter of a focus rs  ;)

And yet it explodes despite being in the right gear and being driven correctly. I stand by my statement, it is a shi*box and your turbo has made it shi**ier! Yes the RS costs more, but in life you get what you pay for.

Back to the OP, interesting car despite the crappy stretched tyres.
