Possibly not worth taking the payout, as subsequent premiums will likely come to more...

Best all round to leave insurance out of it .... loss of NCB etc ...... have a phone round the yards at Pimhole, Bury or Waterloo St Bolton, though Omegas are getting a bit old these day to in scrap yards

Agreed. Leave the insurance out of it, glass 2nd hand should be cheap enough, really, shouldnt it? On that subject - tried messaging you, swordfish, your inbox is full

WHat colour is the car? You mention damage to paintwork - would replacing the doors be an option, then? (replacing a whole door cheaper than a respray etc..)

I wouldn't even discuss it with them. People have had their insurance go up for NONE fault claims or just because they knew some that had had an accident (OK made that bit up  ;)) The less they know the better.  :y

Yup. Might as well walk into a supermarket with a bottle of vodka, and mention to the cashier 'yeah, it's my lad's 16th and he wanted something to spice things up a little - oh, actually, no, forget I said anything. Yes, this vodka is definitely for me, now I come to think of it.'... You ain't getting served, now, sunshine! No amount of protesting will allow it. Jesus that happened when I was helping carry two bottles of ale, because my old man was juggling with about half a dozen, couldn't carry any more, and were doing the bloke thing of not getting a basket. He had his ID, of course, being a man in his 50s. I was 28 at the time (and happened not to have any ID/wallet on me at the time) but because I was carrying/had touched two bottles, she wouldn't serve me, or him! So ended up leaving the shop (let's call them Besco's) empty handed.

If you mention it I'd expect a funny response, and potential phone calls or worse, a knock at the door. I'd fix it yourself. If you were nearer I'd probably be able to put you onto a guy who'd let you have screens for very little each. Surely they're dead easy to source on here?
