Front Wiper Sweep
« on: 20 December 2014, 20:23:51 »

Hi folks

An interesting problem this one, and not something the search facility has come up trumps on.  I have a 2003 2.2 Sport Estate, the front windscreen wiper sweep seems to have lost a bit of its edge....by that I mean that when the wipers sweep, the driver's side wiper seems to stop about 2" too far to the left of where I would expect the vertical position to sit.  This leaves a section up the top of the screen that is annoyingly not cleared.

All the rest of the sweep and park functions work as they should.  Neither wiper catches the scuttle panel on intermittent or permanent sweep at the bottom so I know its not that adjustment and they park exactly where expected, it just seems that the driver's wiper doesn't sweep far enough.

Has anyone had any experience of this and ergo knows of a way to fix it or is it a new wiper motor time?...and if so, does anyone have one cheap in the Hampshire/Berkshire/Surrey borders they want gone?

Much appreciated and merry crimbo

Remove the arm and replace it a bit higher up.

These links might be handy if you remove the mechanism. It could just be excessive wear in the wiper linkages  ???
