Buy ex plod... they're technically not Type approved therefore can only be taxed at the standard PLG rates

I thought that you had to have them re-classified by the DVLA once they are no longer a car of the relm?  ??? ??? ???

Nope, just registered in your name... the only thing that changes is that the rate jumps from £0 to the current PLG tarrif :y

As an example... put CN10DZB Volvo into here...

Sooooooo tempting, and its located on my patch........... ???
Strong money for the BMW V8 version. Very strong money.

I would agree, even though its gassed that's a lot of wonga  for a 10year old Rangey,I believe they need flashlube if the heads are to survive.

Thought that was on the 4.2 Jag engine as the valve seats are not as hardy as the BM 4.4  ??? ??? ???

Jason wrong time of year for buying a rangie - and also lots of snow about so prices shoot up.

I bought my L322 on the 04 plate last June and payed £6400 for it.  Miles are a bit higher than I would have liked but it had all the bills and all the stamps in the FSH and it turns out I knew the guy selling it.

At that sort of money they wont drop much further and you could sell after 2 years and get most of that back :)

As for petrol consumption, mine does 19 to the gallon but it only gets used twice a week.

Wrong time of year to be buying any 4X4 :o...As for the P38 you either get a good one or you get a bad one...the good ones are usually kept...which leaves the bad ones :'( and I for will never own a P38 again..the most unreliable 4 x 4 by far :y

The 4.4 BMW V8 engined L322's don't need flashlube, it's the later Jag AJ-V8's that do. They're either the 4.2 Supercharged or 4.4 N/A. The Jag engined 4.4 V8 L322's are the most reliable.

Was it you who told me the beemer 4.4s are prone to incontinence - both oil and water?

Indeed so! The cheapest roadworthy L322's are around £3.5k. The BMW V8 engined one's are good, but don't like neglect. The BMW TD6 is a bulletproof engine, but with 179bhp isn't very rapid. The gearboxes on the diesel's are different to the V8's, and last 100k miles, or 60k with a chip.
The newer 2007 model year TDV8's are the one's to go for. £10-£11k will buy a '56' or '07' with circa 115,000 miles. It seems there are quite a few who might consider a L322. Over the next few days I'll do a quick write up about the differences and things to look for.
