I've driven a few Vectra C's with the engine. Not a bad drive, but if you're going to pay £275 for 6 months / £500 12 months tax and get through soooo much fuel, there are other vehicles I'd choose to do that in!

What would you suggest, Mr Joshwyatt?

....and do you have one in stock?

Being serious, which is difficult  ::)
To make suggestions, there are a few questions I'd ask;
Budget?
Usage? What are specific requirements?
Annual mileage?
I would always suggest a L322 Range Rover or Volvo S80 gen 2 (2007+) as great choices.

Will you stop lusting after powerful cars. You'd be in a ditch in the first country lane you tried, silly old fool.  :P

Perhaps I should look for an Austin 1100. :-\ :-\

Complete with a picnic rug. :(

My sister will soon be selling her 1300. If you could handle the power of the 'big-block' version!

Now if your sister owned the 1300GT complete with twin carbs and a BVR..... ;D :y

Well, it's got a slightly ported, lead free head, and I'll throw in the MG Metro manifolds and carb which allow as much power as the twins without the hassle. It is a two-door car which is pretty unusual.

I'm sorry to upset the Range Rooney fans here at OOF but I always think the RR is little more than a glorified van with windows.

I have owned my MV6 for 4 years so perhaps a change is due.

Up to £10,000 at a push. :y...for something a little less ordinary. :y

I suspect, Opti, that you are looking for something that simply doesn't exist. You are as knowledgeable as anyone on here with respect to out-of-the-ordinary, big engined cars. No one is going to suggest a car that you have never considered because you've been trawling the motor ads for ages. You've got an itch that can't be scratched, poor old lad  ;D

It's that mid-life crisis thing, Steve. ;D ;D

The choice between continued youth and sexual vigour, or a life trawling through Saga magazine inbetween visits to the local garden centre. :-\

I'm going for option one. ;)

Too late for you now. :D ;D

The way I go about it is to list the things I will be using the vehicle for, then look at what fits the bill. Dog carrier, family taxi, cheap to run, gotta be petrol, a bit unusual if possible and fairly new so it will be reliable. Then the budget....around ten grand is reasonable. People carrier fits my bill, so Daewoo.

Your turn.

The old kitchen still has plenty of wear in it. ;)

Ten grand Audi RS6 sounds better. ;)....or perhaps ten grand TVR Griffith.

I could end up with anything or nothing so I shall be keeping the mighty MV6 regardless. :y

Suzuki Hayabusa?.... ::) ::) ::) :D ;D

That's part of the male equivalent of HRT; a motorbike and a much younger girlfriend.

Sounds good to me, and far better than the alternative of an allotment and erectile dysfunction. ;) ;D

The Allegro was a truly outstanding car  ;)
Excellent cars, mate had one back in the 80's, was always amazed how many Coke Cans and Parking Tickets you could carry around behind the back seats.  :y

Ah, but which comes first, the allotment or the erectile dysfunction.

The allotment is to aid wishful thinking; it's a place where things come up of their own accord.
