Loved seeing them, and all the Police Omegas, flanking them; a fine chapter of Vx's history. Saddest bit was when Charles asked for another 'batch' of Omegas he was told 'sorry, we don't make them any more' - this was in 2003/4 - well at that time I'm fairly sure there would have been a few still in showrooms or with delivery mileage on them, they
could have got some together. Just a bit of a missed PR opportunity, if the Royal family want to drive around in your product for the next few years you'd pull every string to get them one, wouldn't you?
The Queen wanted an estate car to replace her old Cresta estate back in the late 1970s - the fact that Vauxhall didn't
make an executive estate any more didn't deter them - they made her a one-off Viceroy Estate. (OK, mini-history - Carlton, Viceroy and Royale launched in 1978, Viceroy axed a couple of years later, Royale facelifted and rebadged as a Senator and Monza, our Mk II Carlton in Germany was called Omega, and in 1994 the Senator was axed, leaving the Carlton's replacement, which was called the, oh I forget the name, now

) Anyway, as I say missed opportunity.
