Sadly, yesterday in Mariupol where Russians killed 29 and injured almost 100, including a 3yo girl who had her leg sliced off while her shop keeper mother was killed. Russians targeted civilian area, including a market where people were doing Saturday shopping. Another Putin/Russian crime against humanity.

According to the Kremlin, it is all Ukraine's fault where they are putting up a fight against the Russian invasion and now full war where they want to keep their territory. I'm not sure what Putin's intentions are or the outcome but it will not be good for Ukraine or Europe. Russia is already flying military jets over the region and have announce the formation of the Donbas airforce, so expect it to escalate further over the next few weeks where the Russian Donbas airforce will be involved with their Russian volunteer pilots with the aircraft they bought at the Russian equivalent of Walmart!  West won't do anything, including supplying defensive weapons, while the front moves ever closer to them, until it reaches the EU border either through Ukraine, Moldova or both. North West Ukraine may survive where it is the most pro-West part and will be most difficult for Russia to hold. In the Donbas region that Russia currently holds, Ukrainian partisan attacks are increasing in number and severity rapidly.

Reminds me very much of Yugoslavia when Europe turned their heads the other way while massacres and people dying in concentration camps was happening. It was only when the US got involved, this eventually slowed down and stopped.

West aren't interested yet and think the war in about Ukraine, it isn't, it's about Putin's political survival, where Ukraine is an aperitif, Poland is the starter and Germany the first main course along with any other countries that help keep Putin in power. Poland has already sensibly worked out that NATO won't come to their rescue, under Article 5, which is why along with the Baltic countries they are building up their defences and civil defences. Realistically, as Putin moves across Europe, the best that Europe can expect from the US is more sanctions, where, like WWI and WWII they won't get involved, until they can't avoid it. Most European countries have well and truly run down their defences as a Soviet collapse peace dividend, so they are paper tigers. :(

Economic pressure from sanctions Putin considers an irrelevance, where he no longer talks or deals with Oligarchies, economists and bankers, only fellow Siloviki like himself.

Putin has seen what has happened to other dictators when they lose power like Hussain, Gaddafi and Mubarak and will do whatever is necessary to make sure it doesn't happen to him, including if necessary, going nuclear. :(
