For Aviation buffs

For the aviation buffs out there, somebody just sent me this. I never operated this AEW version, only T4s, (training version of Mk1) 2's, 3's and 3.3's (fitted with 2 Vipers as well as the 4 Griffons), but the AEW is basically a Mk2. :y

PS But I was still glad to convert onto Nimrods, which in the Mk1 guise were so overpowered, it made you smile. :D

Saw a Shack fly between 5sqn and LTF hangers at Binbrook during one exercise maybe 1985 ish
I could swear you could feel the wash off the props as she went over  :o :D

Proper engineering imo

Fortunately, I never managed that long in the air, the longest trip, (from memory, the relevant logbook being hidden from myself somewhere >:()  was 16.55 (42 Sqn. Mk3) on SAR. Oddly the longest duty day I did was not on a Shack but on a Nimrod to Tokyo, via Fairbanks, Shemya (Aleutian Islands), Nagoya, Tokyo. Four sectors, 24.45 hours and one extremely knackered crew. ::)
