front windscreen
« on: 06 February 2015, 22:15:22 »

At the moment my screen has the rain censor Iam going to replace it but not through insurance. If I get one without the censor I know the wipers wont work but will it affect anything else as I dont like the wipers working of the censor

Can,t really see the lure of rain sensitive wipers as if you can,t see the rain when it falls onto the screen then perhaps
it,s time for a trip to the optician or stop driving altogether. :P

Screen doesn`t incorporate the sensor. Only difference in screens is the shaded area where the sensor sits under the casing

Doesn't screen has an area for the sensor to clip to :-\

Nope. Sensor unit sticks on screen (hence extended shaded area) then is covered with the plastic clip on shroud

Unplug and remove :y

Might need a standard relay to make the intermittent work properly, but try unplugging it first :y

Can swap your intermittent relay with a standard one if needed and you can wait until Wycombe :y

As RobG says, only difference in the Screen is the Rain Sensor Screen has a blacked area to hide the internal gubins of the sensor housing so it cant be seen from the outside, theres a small square clear hole for the sensor itself.

If you want to loss the RS all together, taping over the sensor will stop it but you wont have any intermittent wipe, best way is to rip out / disconnect all together and then retro fit the intermittent wipe relay and the Stalk (RS Stalks dont have intermittent wipe control) bearing in mind there different from Saloon to Estate when sourcing one.  ;)
