One way trip to Mars, anyone?

I doubt I'd have fit their criteria (y'know, being a fat blob n'all) but I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat. If I thought they had half a chance of it actually happening, anyway!

It takes allsorts I guess. Never would have been my cuppa.

I would have liked to be a pioneer to a new country on earth though.

I have just finished reading an interesting book called "The Martian". It is about a chap who gets left behind when the Mars mission sets off back to earth. It is sort of a Robinson Crusoe type adventure though with no manfriday. Author is Andy Weir

Claire, Alison, Maggie .. they'll all do. After a year or so, add Hannah to that list. ;D

But no .. the inspiration would be escaping earth and all the bull here; a stressful job I hate, a complete inability to have a functioning adult relationship with a woman, money, houses, cars etc.. all that would become completely irrelevant and inconsequential next to a very real struggle to survive on a barren planet with little atmosphere.

Or next to blowing up in space, one or the other.

Anyway I could be trapped with those four women for the next 30 years, just me and them, and I still wouldn't get laid!

;D Well after the reaming I got on a conference call this morning (where management, sales et al - all the people responsible for fixing the problems - abandoned me to face the customer alone) .. oh and my left arm has been painful all day but as it's not radiating up from my wrist I'm going to assume it's not a stress induced heart attack. Although anything for a bit of bed rest..

I was just discussing sabbaticals with the guys at work actually.. I reckon on my savings I could live for six months without too much trouble, but if I headed off to somewhere like Romania that would be more like a year.. (I happen to work opposite a Romanian, it's not just a random country selection!)

Absolutely, and if you can freelance, then a few odd jobs here and there could help with bills etc :y
