But I should say, its been warning me summat is gonna go ping unless I get it fixed for the last 8 months  ::)

In fact TB, at Newent last year, hit the nail on the head, I thought it was something else wrong with it.

Today, screeching noise from engine compartment, immediately followed by only engine noise and battery warning light on.

For the last 8 months the aux belt has been 'bouncing' when idling, not when rev'd.

So....from that, the aux belt must be loose when idling, which suggests a knackered bearing on summat attached to the aux belt....

Competition time.....which bearing failed....  poll added  :y

And when did you have all the bearings fail at the same time, Mr Al  ::) ;D

Ok I'll add another option, just to see if anyone is paying attention  ;D

Ummm, no ta Jason, mine spent the morning in the garage....new belt...new ****** , new alternator pulley, coolant change, as they had to take coolant pipes/bits and bobs out the way to get to the offending item .....lots of swearing going on and about 2 hrs labour .... but its fixed now  :y

Who fell for the water pump bearing 'red herring'  ;D ;D Its driven by the cambelt  :D

It was in fact the tensioner bearing that failed ... 2 got that right  :y
