Rear left door deadlocked
« on: 26 February 2015, 19:33:34 »

Good evening OOFers,

First time I have needed to post a request for help, normally someone else has already had the problem and I just follow the advice given by the rest of the group.   :D   :y

Sadly I have run into a right "Blankety-Blank" problem with my MFL Omega Estate.  CL Servo on Rear Left Door has packed up, but it seems to have done it in the 'Deadlock' position.   :'(

Are there any "tricks of the trade"  that someone can share with me, with regards to accessing the interior door workings without having to hack the Door-card apart??

(Manual Door Lock button won't move up either, that is how I reached that conclusion regarding 'Deadlocked').

I did read on one earlier thread that there was a recommendation to disconnect the vehicle battery for a while, then reconnect and see if the Servo came back to life.  I will give this a go in the morning to see if it works.  Otherwise it is time to consider a complete CL Servo Motor swap out - the old girl is 17 years old and these are the still all original parts from when she was assembled in 1997.

Being Europe based, I drive a LHD 'Opel' Omega, Irmscher Sport 2 Edition, 3.0 V6, Manual transmission.  A little heavy on the fuel consumption around town, but will happily purr down the motorways at 125 mph, and that is where she feels most at home.   8)

Did it pack up suddenly?, It might be worth popping the wiring out from the bottom of the 'B' pillar & check the plug connections behind the grommet before attacking the door card, I had issues with mine in the past & found the pins had got dirty.

It got sticky for a week or two then stopped working altogether.  I should have reacted sooner and had a go at rectifying it before it got to this stage.

Your suggestion is definitely worth having a look at.  Can I access the wiring at the bottom of the B Pillar with the door closed?  Unsure of the loom routing to and from the door in that area.

Yeah you can just about get to the wiring, If as you say it has been getting sluggish then I suspect it is the door motor, Unless you are really lucky & the cause was dirty pins causing a resistance, :-\

Yes get a mole grip or pliers on button and lever it up. Seems brutal but it has worked for me.

Molegrips won't work on pre/mid fl due to slightly different button design, but principle is the same... :y
