Its my mums old machine that's been sitting in her garage for the last few weeks waiting for me to see if I can fix it and then nick it  (She's got a new machine)

Its trips the breaker when put on a wash cycle but is ok spinning and pumping out.....so im guessing its the heater element (but will put a meter on it to see if I can confirm its faulty)

So went on the bosch website to find out a part number for the heater (model no of the machine is WF02867GB)

Went to the 'exploded' diagrams section to point and click at the heater to get a part number and then discovered the heater is at the front of the machine  .

I thought it was going to be easy to whip the back of it and get to the heater ..... apparently you have to take the top off/remove the soap dispenser/remove the control panel/remove the door seal/remove the kickpanel/remove the front panel 

Would have been far easier if the heater had been at the back of the machine 

Oh well, as its going to take longer than I thought, it had better wait for a warmer day

Since you'll probably be sliding it into a gap, so only the front is showing, take an angle grinder to the sides and do it that way.

I wouldn't be too upset, as long as I use a pattern part, a replacement heater is only about a tenner. I certainly wouldn't bother with it, using a Bosch part.

I understand washing machines, so don't mind having a go.....its dishwashers that I struggle to understand how they work

So. i'll have a hole in each side and still wont be able to get the heater out as the front is still on....how does that help me

Well it doesn't actually help but cutting things to pieces with power tools is.....well it's a man thing isn't it?

Why don't dish washers have a window so you can see what's going on, like washing machines do?

I fitted a new door seal to my Bosch machine recently and the guide for that also said you had to take the control panel off to remove the front - turned out to be complete bo!!oks.

Remove the 2 screws holding the door hinge onto the front and then the long spring that goes round the door seal and push the door seal inside the front panel.  Now remove the 2 screws at the lower edge of the front panel (you'll see these when you tip the front up.  The whole front panel should now slide down and off - just watch the wires for the door release.

Refitting is the reverse of removal

Ive discounted that Mark....as when I swapped the machine out for my mum, it was full of water from when it tripped the breaker on last use. I turn the machine on and set it to 'spin only'. It emptied the water and spun the drum upto 1400rpm with the pump going as well...and finished without tripping the breaker

Could still be, seen a few where the wiring loom from the chassis to the motor breaks and then it becomes pot luck as to when you get issues. Certainly  worth checking

As per SJC, its really easy to get the front off without to much effort. There's plenty of how too's on YouTube, though as stated they are not all entirely accurate.

I would pop the wires of the heater element, insulate them and test on a cycle. That way it will cost nowt and you would be sure. Temp sender is also there so that could be checked as well.
