poer steering pump change ?

right.
as it looks i have to change the bloody power steering pump on the bloody car.
allready more then pissed of.
no car for at least 2 to 3 days.
means booking emergency holiday not to use bloody public transport and being 3 hours to work and 3 back. no way!
or even making overtime every day 4 hours just to have a company van.

would anyone know maybe with pictures how to change the power steering pump on a 2,5 v6 cdx ? please.
i have no idea.and it needs be done very quick.

ok, just a quick question,
i just been told it also could be the rack.

so i dont want to pay out for a pump, and then its the rack.

i just drove out the drive.
i can not steer the car while it is standing, it must be in motion to be able to turn the steering wheel.
no other noise as a surring, no noise changes while turning, just very very hard to turn.

time to scrap it???

Got a second hand good pump here. If you can get it down to me tomorrow I can have a look. If it's the pump I will change it for you. :y

No it's the pump. A £35 odd part perhaps, for a used one...?

Omega doesn't have a rack. It's a steering box, and they very rarely cause problems, but when they do, it's far more subtle than your describing. Slight stiffness, or a slight knock.

You don't have failed steering. You have failed POWER ASSISTED steering. If your turn the wheel hard enough at stand still, it WILL move the wheels. You need to apply more force.

If you really want to be sure, Jack both fronts onto stands with engine off  and turn the road wheels from underneath you shouldn't here any of the noises you describe as the engine isn't turning the pass pump. But the steering box and mechanism should turn without any noises or clunks until it hits the lock stops.

What engine is it because later V6's have a different pump.
