MoT due Weds for my poor old, but big, black and beautiful V6, and barring any terrible failures that can't be repaired/fixed within a matter of hours/days, me and other half are off on holiday in a week - the plan is in the V6. This means the Turbo Weasel will be nearing the end of it's 145 thousand mile journey... maybe.

I know we've all got 'our babies', and ironically selling an Omega on her can be a bit tricky, because we've all got the car we're happy with, and especially don't need another, it's certainly no way a show-winner (it might even struggle to be accepted entry ;D) but it would be nice to see it dragged through another mot or two.

Basically I'm now exploring interest in the old Weasel on here first to you fine gents, who have been very good to me over the years. It's not 'for sale' yet, hence not being posted in the appropriate section, but just wondering if anyone is initially interested in either as...

1. A very, very, very cheap Omega that, with a couple of hundred quid will see it trundle merrily as a workhorse for years to come.
2. A 2.5 TD engine, with a free car surrounding it.
3. An Omega at a shade above scrap price, that you can get a few parts off, then weigh the shell in, and hopefully have a few quid in your back pocket.

Being the far superior facelift with the correct gearbox and diesel engine  I doubt you will have much trouble finding a home for it :y

Before I defected to Ford I spent a long time searching for a facelift 2.5 diesel Estate, preferrably Elite.. very few came up so all you need is someone like I was, desperate for the right car..

Auto 2.5TD CDX
145k last time I looked
Saloon
There is a Towbar kicking around in the back yard, actually (but not mine, that still belongs to fatherdear  :) )

Colour Z20H (Nocturno Blue)
Tyres hovering around the legal limit
Front wishbones shot
Full geometry setup required
Ideally replace rear donuts, as suspect handling a bit 'wandering'
A few warning messages on the MFD - brakes, coolant level (both down to fault sensors only), beam low (knocked the arm when doing the wishbone a few days back) and engine oil low (intermittent only - not dangerously low, just tends to pop up after a long/hard drive)
Silencer met with a speed bump, and is actually detached from the rest of the system, so booms a bit more than usual.
Lift pump dickey - I can get you a low-mileage spare, but OOF may be cheaper.

Ok, a bit more info... Apologies as this is now wandering dangerously close to 'for sale' territory, but must stress it's not quite there, yet, haha. This will be re-posted in the appropriate section, before prices mentioned, mods; no wish to infringe forum guidelines.


Cosmetics...
Rear arches surface rust, but not the worst I've seen, get away with clean up and repaint, not quite at 'cut out and weld new metal in' stage yet.
OS - some kind chap decided to key the thing a month after I bought it >:(
NS - door mirror held on with sellotape. Some kind chap must've actually sat on it, one night whilst parked up
NS - Nasty scuff on the front bumper. (Bollards - ironically almost exactly what I said when I saw it)
Rear bumper a very dark red. Straight, no severe impact damage.
Interior lots of marks and wear, transported some furniture it it, hence some scrapes here and there.

On the plus side...
Never been smoked in, no fag burns, seats are decent.
Rather nice cream leather doorcards. One-offs, made from a cream Calibra leather interior, with diagonal stitching.
Matching cream leather handbrake and gear gaiters.
'Charcoal' silver trim
'Piano black' door pulls. (A la Astra VXRs) - serve a practical purpose, as the rubberised coating was worn and the 'piano black' has worn incredibly well, without any of the cream plastic showing from underneath even after 5+ years of daily use.
Alloys excellent conditon. NO kerbing. Both me and father (previous owner) very careful parking. (excluding the bollard incident  :D)
Always bi-annual oil changes for last 7ish years in the family - only lapse recently, but probably only 3 months 'overdue' so worth doing, of course. Always genuine GM oil used.
Engine still pulls well and will shift as per the brochure's claimed acceleration times if you wish. Never been chipped so a good lump of torque left to be unleashed should you wish.
Does 50mpg at 50mph
Leak off pipes were done a couple of years ago, should be fine for a while yet.
Starter motor and Alternator done a couple of years ago, I think.
'OPC' Blue painted calipers with white griffins. (not as garish as it sounds, and toned down when covered in brake dust  ;))
Brake lines replaced with cunifer a few years ago, so no worries from them.


That's it as much as I can think of for now  :) No-one expect a prize-winning racehorse with a shiny mane, it's more like a shire horse with a runny nose and matted hair - but it will always pull your cart back to the farm.  :y

And yes indeed EMD, only just run in  - hence my desire to see it at least be stripped for use in other Omegas, as you say, then engine's good for a while yet. Was tempted to see what the TD's diff in my V6 would do - seem to recall that it's the lowest geared one they did, best for accelleration, but higher rpm at motorways? Could well have dreamt that, though. :y

Couple of hundred quid and a weekend or two and there's a perfectly serviceable motor there. Ticket runs out May 22nd (or within a day or two either way) so no worries about trailering or whatever.  :y

Like I say, soon as it's actually 'for sale' (in a matter of days) then I'll be making a new post in the appropriate section, as per 'le guidelines de forum'

Nice to see a few people might be interested... Oh, swapped a front tyre last night, once the wheel was back on, drive to work today and the tyre squeals if I turn right!  >:( So that wishbone which I knew to be stuffed, if clearly well and truly gone! Whoever fancies the challenge / would ideally either...
-need to bring a 'get you home wishbone' (more than welcome to borrow any of my tools/jack/driveway etc for the changeover, which as we know isn't a bad job, 45mins was my personal best - and it will pop off very easily, as it was only off a matter of weeks ago) or
-sort a trailer.
-bring a 'sacrificial tyre' that is nearly bald, just a 'get you home' one.

Personally hate having to let any car get to this level, but I hope the feasibility of fitting new wishbones on a car that I'm getting rid of in a matter of days, can be understood.  :'(
