Am I right in saying that the vectra c 2.2 sri direct takes fully synthetic oil 5/40.? Or have you guys recommend something else . Millage is 119000.  Mick

Either semi of full lymphatic. But given the more sensible short changes that are considered good servicing, I don't see the point in the more expensive full lympfnode tbh.

plus the semi will be more likely to stay in the engine on an older car than the slippery full fat stuff

Yes if going for the oil filter collapsing 20k changes, go full uthinasia. Defo.

Thanks I'll get a tub of semi synthetic then and filter. And possibly flush it out as well to be Certain it's clean .

Steady with the flush. It can clog the arteries and the oil pic up. Better to change it for semi synthesiser for a few k, then fit the fully uthinised after that, with new filter again.

At the garage we use 5w30 semi and 5w30 full fat. Semi goes in old cars and shite boxes, fully goes in nice cars. Simplez

Semi being 10w40. Fully being 5w30. For GM spec.

Nope. Fully is thinner. From the outset. Another reason why 10w40 is better on higher mileage cars...for omegas. Certainly.

Using oil that's to heavy in a car recommended to use a 5w/30 can cause sludge issues.

That's my understanding hence the garages approach
