Aldi air hammer...any experience?
« on: 25 May 2015, 17:13:21 »

Hi guys,

Purchased the air ratchet and got to say i'm really pleased with it. it hasnt got the power to break tough nuts loose but it does have a manual way of  breaking them loose and then once loose you buzz it off...same as tightening.

only down side was the chuck didnt fit our airlines. so the head dude gave me a couple that would and hey presto....all is good

So. was tyhinking of buying the air hammer. anyone any experience? is it weak in comparison to more expensive tools?

I have one, works ok on steering idlers. Same basic design as the others. Power will depend on air available. Air ratchets aren't intended as a "power" tool. :)

Peculiar things, air tools. They are useless for removing over-tightened wheel nuts, but perfect for over-tightening them.

Thanks boyos.

For around £20 it's worth a bash i reckon.

As for how much air our compressor chucks out.... no idea. but it is enough to render the head dude's windy gun the strongest impact i've ever seen!

i want it for knocking out bushes and using on bearing races left in the hub that i've welded up. so hopefully will be good enough for that  :)

It's not man enough for omega wishbone bush removal. Although if digging out the metal cup remains on a rear subframe bush it might help.

I had a £20 air impact gun and it was next to hopeless for removing stubborn nuts and bolts and inevitably I had to revert to a ratchet or breaker bar. Bought a refurbished Sealy Professional for about £70 and it's a whole new ball game. If you do use one connect it straight to a big airline and not through one of those coiled hoses - they act as a restrictor to the airflow as do any additional quick release connectors in the line.
