It arrived at about 14:30 Friday, having done 2 practice displays over RAF Kemble. Supposed to do a flyby with the Sea Vixen and 2 Vampires on Saturday. Staying at Yeovilton till Thursday when it'll make the short hop up to Fairford.

Isn't it strange though how some aircraft "capture" the public attention.Mention Battle of Britain and people think Spitfire, not Hurricane of which more took part doing more damage.WW2 bombers Lancaster, not Stirling or Halifax.V bomber Vulcan, not Valiant or Victor.Americans are the same, with them it's P51 not P47 or it's B17 not B24.An oddity of public perception I suppose.

Baza. I take your point but I am a fan of all those you mention too.  :y
The Vulcan is one of my favourites though. Even my wife said she wouldn't mind seeing it again this year if possible.  :o Result!

Yep, it departed Yeovilton, displayed at Swansea and Cardiff, I believe, then returned to Yeovilton, displayed, landed and was available for under-wing tours.

That's the one, took off displayed with the Sea Vixen and 2 Vampires before heading for Swansea, which I wasn't expecting  :y Then back for is solo display before landing with the braking chute.

A sorry loss, however, a bleedin triumph that she was able to fly again at all. If it took me 6 months to get my old girl back into service after 7 years dormant, the maths is staggering for something that hadn't moved in 20(?)years, and the massive complexity of an aircraft vs a car.

I say a great big cheer for those who got her flying, it was worth it.  :)

Yes, absolutely. It was an incredible achievement the like of which I doubt will ever be repeated. I "met" XH558 in the air in a glider in the early 90's, about 2 weeks before she was first grounded, and was chuffed to get a "wing waggle" out of her. I really expected that would be the last I'd see of her. :y
