That said, there's plenty of sharks in the Med... Once they get used to the concept of effortless food, then all anyone would actually need to do would be accidentally sink the boats...

Some decent media coverage across North and Central Africa Africa, Albania and Syria, and word would soon get around that life might be better spent staying put...

That's a very good Germanic theory. To which the majority subscribe,but daren't say. Gets my vote.

The migrant problem, was caused by American foreign policy,of deposing the dictators from power who kept all descent,firmly controlled, so when the good ol USofA went marching accros the middle east, hundred year old scores are now being settled, causing the migrant problem, so basically send them to America,its a big enough country, but the migrants wont go because there's no benifits.

Nice theory but you have to go back a few more years. Twas the UK and The Frenchies that arbitrarily carved up the Middle East - we did a similar thing with India and Pakistan. Plus we have played a significant part in the overthrow of Ghadaffi, Egypts president, Iraq and so on. Like I said at the time what is the plan? At least they kept their tribal factions under control.

I think there is an astonishingly small amount of humanity shown to the Migrant problem. We are not talking small numbers here. maybe 7 or 8 million people no longer living where they used to. I think that is more than during the second world war. So if you had to move or be subjugated by say ISIS men what would you do? It is a no brainer you would move somewhere where there were opportunities and you could have a better life for your family. So it is no surprise that there are already maybe half a million more folk hoping to cross the Med to Europe.

Spain has (like Italy) received huge numbers (unlike Britain). Here they have a policy of assistance for six months then you are on your own. I saw an interview with a Syrian well educated man and family. He was gutted that Spain had processed his asylum request. He wanted to get to the Netherlands and start a business with the money he had.

If only we had kept our colonies , we could have started massive food producing operations using willing labour.

AR yes the colonies, what ever happened to them,
They thought they could self govern, and be self sufficient without the mother country, but again being tribal, and corruption being the other, they will never be proper democracy.
The middle east needs ruthless dictators to work, Africa needs the west to organize it, we have been supporting Africa with charity-aid since I was a boy and they still claim poverty.
 the west doesn't want the African continent and the middle east to get better as it will be a threat to the world order. Just think India as the worlds policeman. And Nigeria as the world bank.

Anywhere is preferable to being in a war zone and if you were in that situation with a family you would do your best to get them to a place of safety.

The Libyan problem is purely the UK and French fault, so we either fix the problems we have caused or the EU should force the two countries to take ALL of the refugees fleeing from there. This may sharpen a few minds to actually fix the problems they have caused. Although having said that Sarkozy did partly solve his, where Gaddafi was going to sing like a canary on alleged illegal 'loans' he had given his political party to help get him elected as president.

Once CaMoron sees he is going to add a zero or two to net migration, he might actually decide it is politically easier and financially cheaper to put some boots on the ground and establish one working government in Libya instead of several dysfunctional that are all fighting each other along with ISIS.
