window,s updates

could somebody please advise me please. my laptop ( 2 yrs old) came with windows 8 & if any update is available I receive a message advising me to update. I now are getting an alert giving me the opportunity to download windows 10 free of charge. will it be safe to do so?  :-\

Perfectly safe, (so long as it's not come in an email using poor grammar, and it's spam capitalising on the recent genuine offer of a free update). But yes, Windows are offering a free update if you're using 8, and it's good, by all accounts  :)

  thanks . a few weeks ago I tried to turn off , but had 45 updates . they took for ever. that's what has made me a bit weary

It doesn't have Windows Media Centre (Center) though does it? :'(

It doesn't have Windows Media Centre (Center) though does it? :'(
Win 10 doesn't.  Win7 was the last to come bundled with Media Center (with Home Premium or higher), Win8 its available as an add-on
