I tried cleaning my buttons --- ended up removing the little drawings on them too  :-[

I have exactly the same problem with my trim, especially the rear vents and the catch on front centre arm rest.  It does seem to be a stupid ides to put such a flimsy rubber film over trim that is subject to a fair amount of general wear and tear.

The only solution would appear to remove it all and then try to roughen the surface to a matt finish by grit blasting or scotchbrite etc.(what a sod of a job that would be!)    [smiley=angry.gif]

Had the same problems on my buttons.
Replace them with the later ones with a "bobbly" (a great technical word) finish. they won't rub off

Seems to be a GM trate, because it's the same with both my mates US trucks  :( :( :(
Interestingly VAG (Audi/VW) may have started this trend as my Son has experienced the 'rubbery paint moth' on his A4 and Passat - both 1997 models. >:(
The common denominator here would appear to have something to do with a German supplier of trim parts - curious! :-/
Needless to say my Facelift Elite has the 'disease' also.
What I have noticed is that residue from human hands sticks to the paint finish and seems to accelerate its chemical breakdown to the point where it just rubs off. :-/
I have to say that this rubbery paint surface is unnaceptable for a car with such a high spec in other areas. My Carlton CDi interior is so much better quality and that is 15 years old. :)
I would as others have mentioned be very keen to hear of a good fix for this problem. :y

I have this problem, I think previous owner had long finger nails that seem to have put minor scratches all over the place, that won't polish or clean out. :(
