Most washing machines are now throw away items since the drum is welded and you can't even change the bearings. If the old machine is otherwise reliable, bung some new bearings in it.

Get the lads around for a few beers and do this to it!   

You'll then be able to get it in the boot of the Omega for the tip run as well!

At that age almost brand new with only the two of you, so new bearings obviously.

The lower price range Bosch goods are rebadged cheaper brands, only the top end goods are true Bosch items.

bought our first home together and spent wedding vouchers on a beko washer £160 and beko fridge freezer £159 iirc it was 2004 and I replaced the washer last year and the fridge this year and only replaced fridge cos we needed a bigger one,i personally buy the cheapest in a lot of cases and if I get a few years out of it its earned its keep so buy another without getting my hands dirty

You'll save the purchase price of a new Machine in the 5 years it's likely to last in electricity and water alone.

Not only that, but a 'quick' wash is now 15minutes - and it does the job unless you have heavily soiled clothes.... time saving, also!

I think the old one is A++ rated, most new ones are obviously A+++. So probably not much in it energy/water wise.

The one doubt she has about new ones is the long cycles. Her favourite 40C cotton wash is 100m on ours, most modern ones appear to be near 200m for similar wash.

Which seems to be the issue with all modern machines. But 4.5hrs is too long.
