Might as well buy genuine... Non SL are cheap enough... £60 ish iirc

Read various reports on here, quality is not what is was with them. Not lasting well. 

Then buy a pair of £20 no name specials and treat them as a service item

Meyle not exactly no name, very, very happy with their drop links. Excellent build quality with them, so feel they are worth go.

Current GM set, which is on the car now for me has lasted less than 70k, TB reported short life with his GM, B4s lasted much better. Read others posts here about not great life.

ETS was once a no name, now it's a top reccomendation

But by your own admission you have overloaded your shocks with paving slabs original shocks only last 80-120k depending on previous use, and don't forget that you reused the mountings last time which have recently failed... So hardly fair to criticise the parts for failing following abuse and neglect

My MV6 dampers lasted 13months before a failure on one of the rears, not long after the other followed, mileage was under 12k and has never carried any more than the weekly shop.

These are made by Sachs and I`m not at all impressed with their dampers anymore, I had premature failures on my Senator too

Paving slabs? Wtf! Never gone in my 2.2!    You do come up with some random crap? 

So now it's 80-120k that's a big range. As per Webbys experiance, it's worth trying others.

I'm going with Meyle, see how they last.

12k. Wow. That's not good. TheBoy also reported poor life from MV6 shocks too from GM. He is much happier with B4s - but they are not for me.

Hence these Meyles look good, if they are anything like their droplinks it's a winner.

As GM droplinks are not what they used to be, very poor life span.

Anyone buying an Omega with 80-120 K under it can expect to rebuild the suspension... That's not news... I have replaced worn shocks and wishbones on Omegas with 65k on them and on cars with 150k and stand by that 40k window.

As for the paving slabs, doesn't matter which car it was, you still had it loaded to the bump stops. And if you can treat one car that way, then why wouldn't you treat the other any different,especially given your approach to part replacement

Like GM exhausts, once excellent. Now no better than ETS/Eternal.

Some people are trialling gaskets, going well. So far looks like GM just for sensors these days

Same, I had crappy GM droplinks. Really short life, Meyle one have outlasted GM by twice as much so far, still good. Find myself using less and less GM stuff. 

Harder to get GM TC parts too, what with ECP walking distance away and AGP on fast mail order. Easier to go elsewere now

I`ve never had GM stuff through TC but as I`m not that far from Autovaux I use them quite a lot and provide part numbers and specify which parts I want OEM and I`ve always had a good price from them, everything else I use pattern parts.

I replaced the wishbones when I first got my Omega about 4 years ago, £50 for the pair and I`ve only just replaced them after 30k, can`t complain about that really.
